We are now almost three months into the 2019/20 bowling season and while there is nothing of significance to report on the greens (yet!) some very positive things are happening off them.
A very successful “Burgers & Bowls” event ran over November and December. Attendances varied between 20 & 45 and most were of a slightly younger age group. They were nearly all attracted through Facebook advertising, not a normal medium that bowlers would use, but showing the value in this day. I believe we could well get 4 or 5 members from this intake, indeed a good result! There is another Burger & Bowls starting February 12 so talk to your neighbors, friends and workmates to make up triples teams for then. To the regular helpers, thank you for you assistance.
Shannon Ellison (our Auckland Bowls appointed marketing person) has managed to secure Green naming rights sponsorship from Columbus Coffee, 490 Pakuranga Road. Well done Shannon. If you want a coffee fix, why not go into Columbus for a coffee and a scone? Remember to make yourself known as a member if you do… sponsorship is a two way deal.
Your Bar & House committees have been run ragged over the last six or so weeks with company & private functions, often involving the playing of bowls. Anne’s model of charging a green fee for the bowls plus the bar take is proving very successful. Thanks to the bar team and others for their efforts here.
If you have been down at the club recently you will notice many members with the new model club shirt. These are drawing wide spread acclaim from all who see them and certainly there is nothing smarter on the Auckland bowling scene. We will be placing a new order early in the New Year for further shirts ($60.00 each for both short or long sleeved, women’s or men’s fit) so contact Larry or Alex if you want some.
Thanks to Kelvin, Larry and Alex for championing the new shirt cause over a long time. You will also notice the new livery on our club flag and this is available as a logo on hats. Contact any of the Executive for further information

The administration of the Club keeps your Board members busy. We have embarked on a programme to upgrade the profile of the Club. At the last AGM members agreed to our new club logo. This will now be used on all club correspondence, on our website and Facebook page.
Please talk to a committee member should you wish to purchase our new attire.
AUCKLAND CENTRE EVENTS A reminder that members wishing to enter any Auckland Centre events need to register themselves by logging onto Auckland Bowls web site. Good bowling to those entering events. LEP MULTI SPORTS BUILDING – COMPLEX This project is still moving along albeit at almost snail pace. The machinations of Auckland Council don’t move very fast and of recent times the steering committee have been waiting for reports on other Council building projects that might have impacted on our project. We have been advised by Council to keep working. Currently, Lawyers are being engaged to develop a Trust (Charitable) Deed top form, an entity to manage the whole project when it is completed. The proposed name is ‘Elsmore Sport and Community Charitable Trust’ The Steering Group is currently also working to have a funding application in place for the Auckland Council in March next year. This part of Council’s financial planning process for the next financial year. If we miss the March date, we will have to wait until October
